Let's talk about today's Bochur.

Let's talk about today's Bochur.

A strong, level headed Yeshiva student, doing his best to make his mark, and living a life infused with Chassidus, and a connection to the Rebbe.

The Bochur of today has vastly different struggles than the Bochur of yesterday, can face incredible challenges in his quest to strengthen his hiskashrus to the Rebbe. To that end, and with the guidance of Hanhalas around the world, led by Reb Yoel Kahan A"H, Vaad Hatmimim was founded 20 years ago.

Over the last 20 years the Vaad Hatmimim has, through a wide variety of mediums, been there to help Bochurim.

In celebration of 20 years, we will highlight some of the most impactful and revolutionary endeavors of “the Vaad”, starting with “Halikut”.

Today's Bochur is innovative.

Today's Bochur is passionate.

Today's Bochur wants more.

Through the Halikut program, one of many programs established by Vaad Hatmimim, Bochurim are given resources and taught skills to strengthen their connection to the Rebbe.

It starts with simply learning a Sicha, but it does not end there.

Imagine being able to truly understand, grasp and thoroughly know a full volume of Likutei Sichos - in a way you have never before.

Through interactive and engaging material, as well as cutting edge training tools and regularly scheduled quizzes and tests, Halikut brings the Sichos of the Rebbe to life, in a way that today's Bochur can truly grasp, understand, internalize and memorize.

There are several levels, and Bochurim can register at the entry point they feel most comfortable with, and proceed at their own pace.

Halikut is known in the Yeshivah world as the "gold standard" of learning the Rebbes Torah and has uplifted thousands of Bochurim over the last few years.

Many respected Rabbonim and Mashpiyim have personally endorsed the Halikut program, including the late great R' Yoel Kahn A"h, and so many others, who encouraged their respected Bochurim and Yeshivos to participate.

Throughout the process, Bochurim are guided and trained through various tiers of testing and incentives, ultimately culminating in well-publicized finals, where the Bochurim who obtained the highest marks compete for the coveted first prize.

Today's Bochur faces unprecedented challenges, and it's incumbent on all of us to instill the love, chayus and passion for the Rebbe's Torah which we were so fortunate to see and hear for ourselves, in their lives. The Rebbe's Torah gives a Bochur the passion and tools to survive in today's tumultuous world- and Bochurim experience that in an unparalleled way while taking part of Halikut.

Vaad Hatmimim is putting the needs of TODAY'S BOCHURIM FIRST, And Halikut is just one example.

Out of 500 initial participants, a record number of 300 Bochurim have passed this year’s Hanachos program, by the Vaad Hatmimim in partnership with JEM.

Those who passed from Shlav Beis will receive a  $100 gift card to Kehos, while those passing Shlav Aleph will receive $50.

In addition, the top 3 Grand winners, to be announced, will be awarded all 120 seforim of Toras Menachem.

Mivtza Hanachos launched for the fourth year in Mesivtas across America

Blog Cover.png

The Vaad Hatmimim has launched the Hanachos program, now in its fourth year, in 15 Mesivtas across America. The program, in preparation for Gimmel Tammuz, encourages bochurim to watch Farbrengens of the Rebbe and summarize the Sicha in their own words.

Every week two videos of the Rebbe are shown in Yeshivah, starting at between five to ten minutes, gradually increasing in time, culminating in the final week with thirty-minute videos. For the many Bochurim who are not used to watching Farbrengens or long videos of the Rebbe, this program motivates them to focus on a full Farbrengen of the Rebbe and understand what the Rebbe is saying.

Bochurim who successfully pass all the Hanachos receive an automatic prize of $50 - $100 in Kehos, depending on what level of the program they join. The final top three Bochurim with the highest mark on their Hanachos will each be awarded the entire set of Toras Menachem.

Many Bochurim have already expressed their appreciation for this important Mivtza in the past, stating that they were never able to properly follow and understand a Farbrnegen of the Rebbe until they joined the Hanachos program.

Many parents and Hanhola members have also expressed their thanks and gratitude for having this program where the Bochurim are involved in Farbrengens of the Rebbe while building a skill that will surely help them for many years to come.

Hanachos is a project of the Vaad Hatmimim in partnership with JEM, directed by Rabbi Tzvi Hirsh Altein along with Mendel Banon, Mendel Goldman, Levi Katz, Berel Marozov, Levi Shemtov, and Zellig Shemtov, the Shluchim in all 15 participating Yeshivas and the JEM team led by Rabbi Elkanah Shmotkin and Mendel Gourarie.

Where the Rebbe Gave Matonos L’evyonim

קמפיין אנגלית (1).jpg

Over the next few hours, you will no doubt be deciding how best to direct your Matanos L’evyonim.

It is well known that each Purim, the Rebbe would call in Rabbi Mentlick A”H and give Matonos Lo’evyonim towards Kupas Bochurim, taking care of the needy Tmimim, who needed assistance with purchasing clothing and other needs. The Rebbe cherished the Bochurim as his very own and worried about their care.

Over the next month, the Keren Tomchei Bochurim, a project of Vaad Talmidei Hatmimim, will be assisting hundreds of Bochurim with clothing for Yom Tov, including new suits and hats, sets of Tzitzis, shoes, glasses, and more.

These needy Bochurim have nowhere else to turn and are completely relying on your generous contributions to bring in this Pesach as a Yid should, wearing a new suit and worrying only about their spiritual needs as a Bochur in the Rebbe’s Yeshivah.

Your Tzedakah will help these Bochurim.

This is a unique opportunity where you can give Matonos L’evyonim as the Rebbe did, to the needy Bochurim for their basic needs – and every dollar counts.

Vaad Hatmimim is taking care of the Rebbe’s Bochurim

When a Bochur comes to Crown Heights to spend his year learning in 770, his only concern should be coming to Seder and spending his day learning Chassidus and Nigleh in the Rebbe’s Yeshivah.

Each year hundreds of Bochurim flock to Crown Heights to spend their year learning in the Rebbe’s Yeshivah. With learning being the only priority on their mind, often these Bochurim lack essential everyday items that others take for granted.

Being that many of these Bochurim don't have who to turn to, the Vaad Hatmimim has stepped up to tackle this long-standing issue with a fund, called Tomchei Bochurim, to ensure that no Bochurim are neglected. This fund provides for Bochurim's physical needs so they can focus on their Ruchniyus needs.

“A Bochur needs to know he has someone to turn to,” said Rabbi Tzvi Altein, director of the Vaad Hatmimim. “For too long, 770 Bochurim have felt alone and neglected. This fund helps them, B’gashmius and B’ruchnius, and more importantly, that they know someone cares and wants to help them.”

Over the past few years, Tomchei Bochurim has provided coats and other winter essentials to hundreds of Bochurim who would otherwise not have these important necessities, as well as, Yom Tov clothing for Pesach and other essentials throughout the years.

In the coming weeks, Tomchei Bachurim will once again be distributing coupons for the purchase of hats, suits, and more at subsidized and discounted prices for Pesach.

In addition to the Matanos, hundreds of Bochurim have already purchased flights to spend this time by the Rebbe in New York, where they will join a week-long Hachana program in Crown Heights and the Ohel.
