As part of the global 'Matanos' initiative from Vaad Hatmimim to encourage Bochurim to take on gifts of Torah in preparation for Yud-Aleph Nissan, a full schedule is being planned for an extended weekend in New York.

The schedule includes: Fully stocked Zal for Bochurim to learn, daily transportation to and from the Ohel, Shiurim in Chassidus and Nigleh, Farbrengens with notable Mashpi’im, full Shabbos schedule and accommodations at the Ohel, and much more!

The culmination of this exciting weekend program will be a historic Yud-Aleph Nissan event where the Bochurim will celebrate with their fellow hard-working Bochurim who prepared for this day over the past few weeks. The Bochurim who succeeded in their Matana will also be receiving money toward their flight at the event.

More details and a full schedule for this extended weekend of preparing and celebrating in New York will be released soon.

Where the Rebbe Gave Matonos L’evyonim

Over the next few hours, you will no doubt be deciding how best to direct your Matanos L’evyonim.

It is well known that each Purim, the Rebbe would call in Rabbi Mentlick A”H and give Matonos Lo’evyonim towards Kupas Bochurim, taking care of the needy Tmimim, who needed assistance with purchasing clothing and other needs. The Rebbe cherished the Bochurim as his very own and worried about their care.

Over the next month, the Keren Tomchei Bochurim, a project of Vaad Talmidei Hatmimim, will be assisting hundreds of Bochurim with clothing for Yom Tov, including new suits and hats, sets of Tzitzis, shoes, glasses, and more.

These needy Bochurim have nowhere else to turn and are completely relying on your generous contributions to bring in this Pesach as a Yid should, wearing a new suit and worrying only about their spiritual needs as a Bochur in the Rebbe’s Yeshivah.

Your Tzedakah will help these Bochurim.

This is a unique opportunity where you can give Matonos L’evyonim as the Rebbe did, to the needy Bochurim for their basic needs – and every dollar counts.

When a Bochur comes to Crown Heights to spend his year learning in 770, his only concern should be coming to Seder and spending his day learning Chassidus and Nigleh in the Rebbe’s Yeshivah.

Each year hundreds of Bochurim flock to Crown Heights to spend their year learning in the Rebbe’s Yeshivah. With learning being the only priority on their mind, often these Bochurim lack essential everyday items that others take for granted.

Being that many of these Bochurim don't have who to turn to, the Vaad Hatmimim has stepped up to tackle this long-standing issue with a fund, called Tomchei Bochurim, to ensure that no Bochurim are neglected. This fund provides for Bochurim's physical needs so they can focus on their Ruchniyus needs.

“A Bochur needs to know he has someone to turn to,” said Rabbi Tzvi Altein, director of the Vaad Hatmimim. “For too long, 770 Bochurim have felt alone and neglected. This fund helps them, B’gashmius and B’ruchnius, and more importantly, that they know someone cares and wants to help them.”

Over the past few years, Tomchei Bochurim has provided coats and other winter essentials to hundreds of Bochurim who would otherwise not have these important necessities, as well as, Yom Tov clothing for Pesach and other essentials throughout the years.

In the coming weeks, Tomchei Bachurim will once again be distributing coupons for the purchase of hats, suits, and more at subsidized and discounted prices for Pesach.

More Bochurim than usual expected in NY for 11 Nissan

Matonos Update (1).jpg

The Vaad Hatmimim is participating in the travel costs of hundreds of bochurim coming to NY for 11 Nissan - as part of a "Global Matonos Initiative" in yeshivos.

As part of the global 'Matanos' initiative from Vaad Hatmimim - encouraging Bochurim to take on personal gifts to the Rebbe for Yud-Aleph Nissan with the guidance of their Mashpi'im - over 1200 Bochurim from Yeshivos throughout the world have taken on Matanos and are preparing for this most important day.

In addition to the Matanos, hundreds of Bochurim have already purchased flights to spend this time by the Rebbe in New York, where they will join a week-long Hachana program in Crown Heights and the Ohel.

Through Farbrengens with their Mashpi’im and Talmidim Hashluchim, Bochurim are excited and proud of their Matanos and are putting in hours of work into completing their Matanos for Yud-Aleph Nissan. Bochurim are counting down the days to their flights, eager to experience a Yud-Aleph Nissan like never before.

Each Bochur which completes his Matana will receive money towards his flight at the historic Yud-Aleph Nissan event taking place on Yud-Aleph Nissan in New York.

In addition to the personal and communal gifts that Bochurim are preparing for the upcoming milestone of Yud-Aleph Nissan - 120 years, many Yeshivos throughout the globe have taken on a grand commitment of learning 120 letters of the Rebbe — one or two a day — throughout the three months, from Yud Shevat until Yud Aleph Nissan.

Since its launch at the Kinus Hatmimim on Yud Shevat, over 50 Yeshivos have signed up to partake of this historic and global initiative. Many Anash communities and schools have also joined, as well as hundreds of people who have been receiving the daily letter through the Vaad Hatmimim WhatsApp broadcast.

This week, Bochurim around the world are learning letters on the topic of Avodas Hatefilla. In previous weeks the Bochurim learned about how to interact with their friends, how to properly influence another, the concept of Emunah and Bitachon, the importance of a Chassidishe Farbrengen, and the topic of Shlichus. Upcoming topics include; Shmiras Hasedorim, Chitas, writing to the Rebbe, and more!

Many of the Talmidim Shluchim were happy to report that their entire Yeshivah is learning the letter every single day! One Shliach described the atmosphere that Michtavim brought to his Yeshivah: “Everywhere you go in Yeshivah, be it the dorm or the dining room, you can find the Bochurim discussing that day’s letter, eagerly waiting to see what tomorrow’s letter will be.”

You can ALSO receive the daily letter now by signing up here to the Vaad Hatmimim Whatsapp status.
